Athens is not one city — it's fifty neighborhoods with different streets, parking rules and building layouts. After 18 years of moves across Attica, these are the points that save time, money and stress.

1. Book early — especially end of month
In Athens, the last week of each month is peak season: lease renewals, students and office moves all collide. Book 2–3 weeks ahead if you can. Midweek dates (Tuesday–Thursday) usually offer better availability and pricing.
2. Sidewalk and parking permits
In the center (Plaka, Monastiraki, Kolonaki, Exarcheia) and many dense neighborhoods, a 20 m³ truck cannot simply double-park. You often need a municipal sidewalk-use permit so the crew can load safely without fines.
How to get a sidewalk occupancy permit
- Apply at the local municipality (Athens, Piraeus, Glyfada, etc.) — usually 3–5 business days before moving day.
- You need the address, date, time window and vehicle size.
- Some municipalities require a truck placement sketch or photo of the loading spot.
- The permit covers a specific time slot — delays can void it.

- Without a permit, loading time doubles and you risk a parking ticket.

3. Choose the right vehicle for the street
Narrow one-way streets in the historic center need a 12–16 m³ truck. Wider avenues in Kifisia, Marousi or Glyfada allow larger vehicles. Tell us your exact address when requesting a quote — we match the truck to the street, not just the volume.
4. Elevator or furniture lift?
Most Athens apartment buildings have elevators — but they're often too small for a sofa, wardrobe or fridge. When the elevator won't fit:
- We use a furniture lift (balcony hoist) — loading through window or balcony.
- Pricing depends on floor height and access — included in your written quote.
- Notify the building manager — some complexes require advance notice for external equipment.

5. Pick the right time window
Athens traffic can add an hour to a move if you load during rush hour.
- Best window: weekdays 10:00–15:00
- Avoid: 07:30–09:30 and 17:00–20:00 on Kifissias, Syngrou, Mesogeion and the center ring
- Saturday: workable, but parking in residential areas fills up early
6. Athens neighborhood checklist
- Center & historic: permit almost always needed; small truck; tight stairwells
- Pagkrati, Koukaki, Neos Kosmos: '70s–'90s blocks; elevator often too small → lift
- Ampelokipoi, Gyzi: our home base — fast access, familiar building layouts
- North suburbs (Kifisia, Marousi, Chalandri): larger trucks OK; watch school-zone hours
- South (Glyfada, Voula, Alimos): building-complex rules; confirm loading zone with concierge

7. What to prepare the day before
- Reserve the elevator with the building manager (if required).
- Clear the landing and stairwell — Athens stairwells are often narrow.
- Protect marble floors and elevator walls (we bring materials).
- Pack an essentials box: chargers, medication, keys, one meal's utensils.
- Photograph meter readings and electrical connections before disconnecting.
